The Skaphonics started playing together in January 2005. From the beginning on they put a focus on writing their own material, trying to concentrate on the sing-a-long character of their songs.

The Skaphonics come from Kassel, a town in the middle of Germany. There was never a skaband before in their area. Kassel is famous for Grimm..s fairy tales, the documenta art exhibition, double high criminal rates & highest social welfare rates in Germany.

In June 2006 the Skaphonics had their first gig, in October 2006 they recorded a demo, in November 2006 made a first video.

2007 they supported top ska acts like Rude & Visser (NL) and the Hotknives (UK). Also organized a show with Contra Coup (US).
